Set/Setting is an ongoing body of work that I started in 2022.

The body of work is built from my documentation of photography sets that my parents (who are portrait photographers) have built within the verdant landscape of their property near Minneapolis, MN over the past 30 years.

The documentary images are used as material for ink-jet based paintings that complicate the relationship between the designated function of the set and its relationship to the setting.
The set and setting line becomes infrathin through landscaping, the weathering of materials and the documentation of sets without subjects.

Selections from the Set/Setting body of work were exhibited in Sleepy Drivers, a two-person exhibition with the artist Meghan Cox at Cerulean in Philadelphia in February 2023.
